This rice sensory bin has been a hit this month! It's super easy to create and has been enjoyed by both my 16 month old and 7 year old. I love that sensory bins can facilitate both independent and parallel play. I like to save the rice in big ziploc bags so I can switch it out each month/theme.
To make colored rice:
Need:
- plain white rice
- white vinegar
- red food coloring
Directions:
Add the rice to a big Ziploc bag. Then add 1-2 tsp (depending on how much rice you use).. Add red food coloring and shake really really well until all the color is dispersed. Pour rice onto a baking sheet and let dry for a day or two. Done!
I used a storage container from Ikea as the bin and added items from the dollar store and kitchen.
